Home Ventilation – RVI
This a specialist regional centre, based in the Royal Victoria Infirmary, which provides support to patients who require long-term ventilation outside of the hospital setting. The team has strong links with the on-site critical care and respiratory physiotherapy services, and an established relationship with the paediatric home ventilation service. The focus of the home ventilation service is to allow these patients to achieve an enhanced quality of life whilst remaining in their home environment.
Pain Team – Freeman Hospital / RVI
The acute pain tea are based on both the Freeman and Royal Victoria Infirmary site. Our services include the delivery of invasive analgesia techniques such as epidurals, intrathecals, paravertebrals, patient controlled analgesia and Entonox. Training and education of all Trust staff for epidurals, PCAs and Entonox are undertaken by this team
Pre-Assessment – Freeman Hospital / RVI
Clinic H/ D are a vital part of the patient’s surgical pathway of care and facilitating day of surgery arrival. The pre-admission clinic is a predominantly nurse-led unit with consultant anaesthetic support for certain sessions during the week patients attend Clinic H/ D from various specialities including ENT, urology, general, hepatobiliary, vascular and orthopaedic surgery where an anaesthetic health assessment is completed to assess patient’s fitness for surgery. Patients may also undergo the CPX bike test for fitness.
Shift Patterns:
Pre-Assessment shifts are 7.30am to 5.30pm or 8am until 6pm including Saturday and Sunday working.
