Our community-based team of health and social care professionals works with adults who live in the Newcastle area or who have a Newcastle GP.
We provide treatment, rehabilitation and support, working with individuals to increase independence and safety within your home environment.
Who makes up the CRRT?
The team is made up of:
- Physiotherapists
- Occupational therapists
- Podiatrist
- Nurses
- Community psychiatric nurse
- Support workers
- Doctors access via Day Unit
- Social workers
- Technical instructors
- Clerical support
Students
This is a teaching hospital trust. This may mean students are present during a consultation or treatment. All students are supervised by senior members of staff. If you do not wish students to be present please mention this to a member of staff. This will in no way affect your treatment.
What do we offer?
- Support is given on an individual basis depending on your
- needs but may include
- Learning new ways of doing everyday tasks
- Exercises to improve balance and help strengthen muscles reducing the risk of falls
- Provision of equipment or simple adaptations
- Practising indoors and outdoors mobility
- Foot care
- Nursing assessments and treatment programs
- Helping you with support needs and social issues
- Addressing any mental health issues for example anxiety, memory problems, depression
- Medical review
How long will the team be involved?
The length of time we are involved varies depending on the level of treatment and support required. This may be just one or two visits across a number of weeks, to a maximum of six weeks.
Once we have helped you address your needs you will be discharged from the team. A letter will be sent to your GP outlining your progress and what the team has done.
Is there a cost?
No the service from the NHS team is free of charge however if you require an on-going care package this may be financially assessed.

We operate 8am till 6pm Monday – Friday with an emergency service until 8.30pm. The emergency
service is also available 8.30am to 8.30pm weekends and bank holidays.
