The pain management programme (PMP) team work with people who have persistent pain to help people with persistent pain to get the most out of their lives.
Our services
Our main aim is to help patients make the transition of living in pain, to living with pain.
We will assess you and tailor the treatment for their individual needs. After a comprehensive assessment, we offer help including:
- Activity management
- Goal-setting
- Graded exercise
- Education on pain science.
We also help patients to manage worry, anxiety, stress and low mood.
This includes help for relaxation, mindfulness, meditation, sleep management and communication skills.
In our work we use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
One-to-one and group work
We work with you in a group, or on a one-to-one basis.
Both the individual and the group programmes aim to help people who have persistent pain to maximise their quality of life. The programmes also you to make their own informed choices about their future.
The group programme is run over six weeks, with three-monthly and yearly follow-ups. For people who complete the group programme, we offer regular drop-in support sessions and a quarterly newsletter.
