The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals Arthroplasty MDT (multi-disciplinary team) meets on Tuesday mornings at 8:15am at the Freeman Hospital.
The MDT discusses clinical cases affecting the hip and knee. This includes both primary and revision surgeries for arthroplasty, soft tissue procedures, preservation surgery, periprosthetic joint infection and periprosthetic fractures.
The MDT consists of Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons, Registrars, Arthroplasty Nurse Practitioners and Physiotherapists.
Consultant Microbiologists with a specialist interest in bone and joint infection attend a dedicated monthly infection MDT to discuss infected cases.
We also have access to other relevant surgical specialities including Vascular and Plastic Surgeons as and when required.
