Using PPE and maintaining hand hygiene during the pandemic is extremely important to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
However, we know that wearing PPE and repeated hand cleansing can harm the skin’s integrity and lead to problems such as, redness, blisters, dryness and cracking of the skin.
We have put together a guide for staff to follow to look after their skin, and some suggestions for products you could consider to use.
We also encourage you to print off this poster to put up in your area as a reminder about how you can look after your skin during this time.
Evidence has shown that using gloves only when required, and for the shortest possible time, as well as good skincare can support skin.
Please see this flow chart about glove use and selection
