Newcastle Birthing Centre
The Newcastle Birthing Centre is temporarily closed however our delivery suite remains open at all times and our team are doing all they can to meet families wishes and preferences for their birthing environment.
We are welcoming new team members in October and November, and will provide a further update in December, including a date for reopening the services.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. If you have questions or would like to talk to someone about your care, please don’t hesitate to ask your midwife, or Connie at [email protected]
Intrapartum refers to the period of time from when labour starts to the birth of your baby. It also includes the first few hours after. If you are having an planned caesarean section, this refers to the day of your surgery.
We offer two options when it comes to choosing where to give birth. At home or the delivery suite at the Royal Vitoria Infirmary. Our maternity team can make a recommendation to help you choose where to give birth.
Here you can find lots of information on the pain relief options available to you as well as some information on the stages of labour so you can better understand what will be happening on the big day.
