A message from the team
Diabetes carries serious risks in pregnancy, so we recommend that you follow the advice of your specialist team regarding management of your blood glucose levels and attend all your appointments.
If you have Gestational Diabetes, the Diabetes Midwife team at the RVI is here to support you, and please do call them if you have 2 high results in the same week (even if they are not on the same day), or if any hypoglycaemia/’hypo’ occurs.
If you have Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes, the Diabetes Specialist Nurses at the Newcastle Diabetes Centre (at the Campus for Ageing and Vitality) will provide their helpline number to support you with high blood glucose readings, hypoglycaemia, sick day rules or other diabetes related concerns.
For any pregnancy related or out of hour’s concerns, please contact the maternity assessment unit on 01912825748.
