Please think pharmacist, GP or NHS111 online first
Unless your condition is life threatening, please don’t just turn up or walk in the emergency department (A&E) or urgent care services. Please think pharmacist, GP or NHS111 online first. In an emergency always call 999.
The MIU It is located near the emergency department (A&E). The unit assesses and treats patients with wide range of urgent (non-emergency) conditions, minor injuries and illnesses.
The unit has purpose-built facilities and ready access to a comprehensive range of support services within the hospital and community, including x-ray, pharmacy, outpatient clinics, social work teams and GP surgeries.
This means you will receive the best possible treatment and advice efficiently and effectively from the most appropriate health care professional.
However, children will be seen in our dedicated children’s emergency department.
