Coming for an appointment
You might come to us for an appointment if you are referred by a healthcare professional for your wheelchair and postural needs.
Who will I be assessed by?
You will be assessed by an Occupational Therapist or a Technical Instructor depending on your needs.
The Occupational Therapist will assess your current level of bodily function when using a wheelchair. They will look at your posture, care of pressure points and your comfort in the wheelchair.
How long will the appointment last?
Patients are given 30 minutes for appointments.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
Please bring any equipment we have already given you. If you are hoisted for transfers it would be useful to bring your own sling.
Who should come to the appointment with me?
You are welcome to bring someone with you to your appointment.
If there are other professionals involved in your care, we advise that you tell them about the appointment in case they have important information about your posture or wheelchair needs.
We will invite the person who referred you to the appointment, if they have asked to be informed.
