A collaboration between Newcastle University’s Openlab and Newcastle Consultant Dermatologist Dr Philip Hampton, the MySkinSelfie app makes it easier to keep track of how your skin conditions change over time.
Tracking your skin conditions
By helping you take consistent photographs of your skin through an overlay system, MySkinSelfie is a great tool to use to keep track of the progress of your skin conditions.
It keeps your photos organised by date, condition type and location on your body. It tracks how they change over time through notes and the handy comparison tool.
The images you take are stored in the cloud over a secure connection. This means you can access them across multiple devices for years to come – perfect for long-term condition tracking.
Sharing your images with our skin experts
There is also a function to allow you to share your images with a clinic, with your permission. If a clinic requests access to your photos, they will provide you with an organisation code and a clinic code. These are to enter into the app sharing screen.
All uploaded files will be encrypted, meaning that you can be safe in the knowledge that your images are completely secure.
In addition, photos are kept out of your device’s default image gallery. You also have the option to lock the application behind a PIN for added security.
