Early detection is the key to successful treatment of melanoma and other skin cancers.
The Melanoma Screening Clinics at the RVI and Manor Walks Cramlington provide specialist assessment for patients whose GP wishes to rule out the possibility of a suspicious mole or other skin lesion being a skin cancer.
The clinic has been run for over 20 years now and is consultant-led with support from specialist GPs, nurse practitioners and doctors in training.
The service is available to both adults and children.
If your mole is considered suspicious, we will offer to remove it immediately under local anaesthetic and will arrange another appointment to discuss the test results with you.
If the mole is found to be malignant (cancerous), further tests or investigations may be required and the options available will be discussed so that you can make an informed choice on what to do next.
See your GP for an appointment
To be seen in the clinic, you must have first been seen by your GP. Your GP should book you an appointment into our clinic within two weeks of seeing them.
