The Paediatric Rheumatology team is based at the Great North Children’s Hospital but is responsible for providing care to all children with arthritis throughout the whole of the North-East of England; from North Yorkshire to the Scottish border and across to Cumbria.
Part of your assessment when referred to our rheumatology service is examination of all the joints in the body to assess for swelling, pain, or limitation of movement, as well as muscle strength and stamina.
The role of the Occupational Therapist is to look at all the functional tasks you need or want to do from getting in and out the bath, to using cutlery and even schoolwork.
Based on our assessment we provide a range of interventions that will best meet your needs and ensure that you can keep doing all the things you need to do!
