When you receive your appointment letter, your screening appointment can be arranged for the following locations
- Westgate Walk in Centre (known as the static site) or;
- Mobile unit one (often referred to as trailer 1)
- Mobile unit two (often referred to as trailer 2)
- Mobile unit three (often referred to as trailer 3)
The Westgate Walk in Centre is located at the site formally known as Newcastle General Hospital (now the Campus for Ageing and Vitality).
The mobile units move around the local area, depending on which GP surgeries’ patients we are screening. The trailers are normally parked in a location that is easy to find, such as a local supermarket car park or leisure centre.
Trailers stay on-site for a few months while we screen the GP surgeries’ patients in that area.
The table below shows where our mobile units are currently located.
When we screen
Once every three years we contact each GP surgery, and every eligible woman registered at that practice will be invited. This means that women will not necessarily get their invitation in the year that they turn 50.
