In this page we will cover some methods for managing your tinnitus through self-help methods.
Where do we start?
- To lessen the intrusiveness of tinnitus there are simple things that you can do.
- There is not a ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to improving tinnitus symptoms.
- It is important to think about when your tinnitus is having the most impact on your daily life/activities and work from there.
Self-help suggestions
All of these things or a combination of these things can help to improve tinnitus:
- Relaxation
- Use of sound/sensory input
- Focus on the positives rather than the negatives each day
- Sleep hygiene and ways of improving sleep patterns
- Support groups and self-help tools
- Improve other health issues
Self-help suggestions
- When is your tinnitus most noticeable?
- When does your tinnitus annoy you the most?
- What does your tinnitus stop you from doing?
- What other problems do you have that may be contributing?
The answers to these questions will help you to decide the best techniques to start to improve your tinnitus.
