The direct access hearing assessment service is for people 50 years old and over and experiencing hearing difficulties.
your GP can refer you directly to our Direct Access Hearing Aid Clinic, without you having to see an ENT consultant first.
During your appointment
An audiologist will take a history of your hearing problems and any other symptoms.
Your ears will be examined and you will complete a hearing test. Sounds at different volumes and frequency will be played through headphones. You will be asked to press a button when you hear the sound.
Treatment
Depending on the cause and how severe your hearing loss is, the audiologist will explain your results and discuss your treatment options.
Generally a digital hearing aid can help with most types of hearing loss, however some hearing losses may require an appointment with an ENT doctor or further testing.
