Newcastle School health team work to promote healthier lifestyles, and one of the ways we do this is to provide classroom and curriculum support to schools for provision of those important health messages.
Using evidenced based material and resources from the PHSE Association, we offer support to schools with lessons around handwashing (reception years), Talk PANTS (the NSPCC lesson with Pantosaurus in year 2) and Body Changes (puberty in year 5 or 6) and other health related messages that teachers may specifically require.
PHSE lessons are great, and a safe space for children to talk and develop ideas about who they are, about the people around them and to learn how to keep themselves healthy, but the role models for children are those they see around them every day
Health for kids has a wealth of health promotional information that parents can use to reinforce health messages but the most important thing is to talk to you child about what they have learnt in school, how things make them feel and how you can support that learning with those health messages. This website also has a kids section that you can help them navigate.
