You and your young person have open access to the health visiting service (Monday – Friday 8.30am-4pm) by calling the Single Point of Access on 0191 282 3319.
School health team work to promote healthier lifestyles, and one of the ways we do this is to provide classroom and curriculum support to schools to provision of those evidenced based health messages.
Using evidenced based material and resources from the PHSE Association, we offer support to schools with lessons around Understanding the Teenage Brain, Risk Taking behaviours and Healthy Relationships and other health related messages that teachers may specifically require.
PHSE lessons are great, and a safe space for young people to talk, ask questions and dispel myths but also to develop tolerance for others and ideas about who they are as well as to learn how to keep themselves safe and healthy.
But the role models for Young people are those they see around them every day.
Health for teens has a wealth of health promotional information that you can use to reinforce health messages. The most important thing is to talk to your young person about what is important to them, how things make them feel and how you can support that learning with those health messages. This website also has a section that teens can navigate around themselves.
