As part of this year’s LGBTQ+ History Month celebrations, Newcastle Hospitals staff volunteered their time to support the Pride Media Centre.
Their volunteering effort highlight Newcastle Hospitals’ ongoing commitment to inclusivity and supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
The team took part in a number of essential maintenance tasks at the centre, making a valuable contribution to this community resource, whilst also connecting and collaborating as a team.
Darren Castle-Beal, Chair of Newcastle Hospitals Pride Staff Network said: “Visiting the Pride Media Centre was a deeply meaningful experience, both professionally and personally. As a proud supporter of the incredible work they do, it’s inspiring to see Newcastle Hospitals standing as community champions for the centre. It’s vital that we continue to share LGBTQ+ history with our families, friends and allies—ensuring every voice is heard.
“The work that the Pride Media Centre does is so important, and it’s a privilege to be able to support them in any way we can, our pride staff network is an integral part of our hospital community, and events like this help us to bond while giving back to a cause that is so important to us all.”
Sir Jim Mackey, Chief Executive of Newcastle Hospitals added: “It was a privilege to visit the Pride Media Centre and see the great sense of community with colleagues. It was also fascinating to find out more about LGBT history. This is a great facility run with kindness by all those involved and appreciated by all associated with it.”
The Pride Media Centre is the UK’s first LGBT+ Business and Media Centre, offering a variety of spaces for rent, including offices, virtual offices, meeting rooms, TV & Green Screen studios, and even a small cinema screening room. These facilities help support LGBT+ businesses, creatives, and individuals within the community.
