We want to make sure our services reflect and incorporate the experiences of patients, families, carers, staff, our governors, members, and partner organisations, who all play a role in representing local communities, from a variety of perspectives.
We are committed to ensuring that our membership is reflective of the community we serve and are keen to ensure that a wide variety of views are represented.
Becoming a member of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is free, open to everyone and provides a chance to more involved in how we serve patients and families.
Members are also entitled to stand for election to our council of governors.
Benefits of membership
Becoming a member is completely free and anyone aged 16 and over can join. It only takes a couple of minutes to register and some of the benefits include:
- invitations to special events to show you what goes on behind the scenes across our vast range of services;
- the opportunity to join specific projects where your views on our services will offer a valuable perspective;
- the chance to vote in our council of governors elections and
- stand for election to the council of governors yourself.

Our people, engagement and membership group, made up of a cohort of our governors, coordinate member engagement and activities and are keen to hear suggestions about how we can keep you informed.
