Resources to help those who don’t have English as a first language to better understand healthcare in the UK and the NHS.
Involve North East (INE) are sharing their English for Health – a series of videos and accompanying workbooks to help people who don’t have English as a first language to understand the NHS. The idea came about in response to local need, evidenced by charities who help and work with residents who don’t have English as first language.
Originally designed to be delivered face-to-face to groups across Newcastle and Gateshead, following lockdown, a North East animation company helped them to turn the English for Health resources into a series of online videos and workbooks. These have the potential to reach an even greater number of people than we could have achieved through our face-to-face classes. In addition, if and when we get back to delivering group sessions, we can use the animations and workbooks as a teaching resource.
The English for Health videos cover:
Each one ends with a Q&A session to help consolidate learning and the accompanying workbooks contain all of the relevant information and links to other resources.
You can visit their website to use the resources at: https://www.involvene.org.uk/english-for-health and please share them widely.
