The Neurosciences Short Stay Unit (NSSU) at the RVI cares for elective, nurse-led, short-stay neurosurgical /spinal surgery patients and neurology patients. Our patients will be attending for treatments and investigations and are only required to stay in hospital for a short period of time.
Staff you are likely to meet
The clinical team is made up of:
- Consultant Neurosurgeons
- Spinal surgeons
- Consultant Neurologists
- Specialist Nurses
- Physiotherapists
- Occupational Therapists
- Other support staff
Things you need to know
- Visiting times are between 14:00 until 20:00 every day. We request no more than two visitors per bedside. We do appreciate that visitors may have a long way to travel and visiting outside of these set times may be arranged in certain circumstances and at the discretion of the nurse in charge.
- Nursing staff are always available for information regarding a patient’s treatment and progress. If you wish to speak to a member of the medical team please speak to nursing staff who will be happy to arrange an appointment for you.
- If you are admitted for elective surgery will attended a pre-admission clinic and you will be advised of the likely length of hospital stay.
