Scam Parking Charge Notice/Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) communications
We have been made aware of a series of scam PCN text messages.
These messages are a scam and are not issued by our hospitals’ parking management enforcement.
Parking management enforcement is only ever provided by letter and this is common practice throughout the industry.
If you receive messages about parking charge notices or penalty charge notices via text, do not click any links and forward these for free to 7726 to report them as a suspicious message.
We have a limited number of patient and visitor car parking spaces at the Freeman Hospital. Our car parks can be extremely busy so please allow extra time for your journey to allow you to find a space.
Alternatively, park and ride options are available and council operated street parking and small car parks are only a short walk from the hospital.
Parking apps such as Just Park can also be used to pre-book spaces in participating car parks or private nearby.
Parking charges
Tariffs are in place across all of our hospital sites and signage is in place. Please help support our clean air measures and avoid waiting in car parks with your engine running.

Long stay tariff
In the event that your stay as a patient exceeds 4 hours, please ask your ward or department to provide a long stay concession. This will make sure your parking tariff is capped at £8.00 for any stay beyond 4 hours.
Your ticket will be validated at one of our main receptions, this concession must be requested before returning to the pay station as it cannot be applied after leaving the hospital.
Parking concessions
We have a number of parking concessions available to support our patients and visitors and full details are available here. To access these concessions please speak to your ward or department.
A number of free parking spaces are available in the car park opposite the Renal Services Centre main entrance. This is only available for patients who need to attend the centre for regular treatment and will have been provided with specially designated parking permit.
Please see the signage in these areas for more details or speak to your clinical team.
Disabled parking
Blue Badge holders may park in standard bays and designated disabled bays within car parks but may not park in drop-off bays, on double yellow or red lines or in any ambulance or maternity bays. Blue Badge Scheme rules apply and the badge should only be used when the holder is present either at point of arrival or departure.
If blue badge holders with good mobility are able to use standard bays this would support other blue badge holders e.g. those with wheelchairs or adapted vehicles to access designated disabled bays.
Parking is available free of charge for blue badge holders only present and if the concession is activated at main receptions. There are no time limits applied to blue badge use when parked.
Blue badge holders should leave the time clock on display in the vehicle and show the blue badge at main reception.
If the vehicle is in a barrier car park please scan the ticket to validate free parking concession
If the vehicle is in a non-barrier car park then please input vehicle registration on the terminal.
Please note that we cannot guarantee access to a designated disabled bay.
