Ward 6 is the children’s emergency assessment unit and the planned medical day case unit. We care for children admitted through our accident and emergency department and GP’s.
The day case unit is open from Monday – Friday 8am – 6pm and cares for children across all of our specialities in children’s services.
Play facilities
Our short stay area has a waiting/play area with a TV. We also have a selection of toys and books to play with. Our play specialist also has a selection of jigsaws and board games to help keep you occupied during your time on the unit.
If you need to stay with us a little longer you will come to our long stay areas. Each bed space has a TV which is free to watch from 7am – 7pm and we have two Starlight boxes which house a DVD player and a Nintendo Wii.
There are also portable DVD players and a selection of DVDs available, along with a PlayStation. We have a small play area with toys, and the play specialist can also bring art and craft activities, games, books and jigsaws to your bedside.
