Ward 29 is an adult respiratory ward which cares for patients with respiratory conditions.
We care for patients with conditions including:
- Lung cancer
- chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- pneumonia
- sleep apnoea
- respiratory failure
- pulmonary vascular disorders
- bronchiectasis
You will be cared for by several staff including clinicians specialising in respiratory conditions, nursing staff, specialist clinical nurses, and other support staff.
The Palliative Care Team works with Ward 29 most weekdays, and the team includes specialist palliative care nurses, social workers and medical staff.
Ward visiting times
- Monday to Friday 2-4pm and 6-8pm
- Saturday and Sunday 2-8pm
In exceptional circumstances, visiting outside of these hours can be arranged with the nurse in charge.
We recommend only two visitors per bed.
Ward facilities
The ward has a fridge in the kitchen allocated for patients to use.
Location of ward
Ward 29 is in the Cardiothoracic Centre, which is set to the right the Freeman Hospital as you look at the front.
Come into the cardiothoracic centre and take a right turn and follow the corridor.
Take the lift or stairs up to level 4 and look for the signs for Ward 29.
You will need to push the grey button on the ward, as the doors will be locked. Staff will open the doors for you via the intercom.
