Ward 27 is an adult cardiology ward which specialises in providing care for patients who have had procedures to treat coronary heart disease, or an abnormal heart rhythm.
- Coronary angioplasty (also known as percutaneous coronary intervention or PCI)
- Coronary angiogram
- Insertion of pacemakers or implantable cardioverter defibrillators
You will be cared for by several members of staff including doctors, nurses and other support staff.
You might be able to go home the same day as your procedure. However, you may have to stay overnight.
I can’t thank all the staff on ward 27 enough. They were kind, caring, very friendly and answered any questions to put your mind at rest. They were also very professional and fantastic at what they do. I really can’t praise all the staff enough. Thank you so much.
Ward visiting times
- Monday to Friday 2-4pm and 6-8pm
- Saturday 2-8pm

Location of ward
Ward 27 is based in the Cardiothoracic Centre, which is set to the right of the Freeman Hospital as you look at the front.
Come into the Cardiothoracic Centre and take a right turn round by the reception desk.
Follow the corridor past the Lung Function Department until you see the lift block or stairs on your left.
Take the lift or stairs up to level 3. Turn left out of the lifts or right at the top of the stairs and follow the corridor past theatre reception
Turn left at the end of the corridor until you reach Ward 27, which is straight ahead.
