One of our commitments at Newcastle Hospitals is to inspire and enable nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals (NMAHPs) to lead and develop research that makes a difference to patient lives.
The Doctoral fellowship will enable an individual Nurse, Midwife or AHP to undertake a Doctoral research programme with an identified University.
The fellowship is part time and designed to enable the individual to remain present and visible within the clinical department, whilst undertaking the research programme alongside.
What is a Doctoral Fellowship and what does the funding provide?
The award will fund backfill up to 0.5 WTE of salary and associated tuition fees for the duration of the programme (maximum 6 years). The fellowship will also fund up to £5k project costs, to be discussed and agreed.
From feedback from previous rounds, we feel that it is important to consider costings from the outset, as this has the potential to impact on the research design. The NJRO have agreed to support and guide applicants with research costings. This is an opportunity for this very experienced team to provide guidance as to the feasibility of your research plan within budgetary constraints. We advise that all applicants seek guidance with costings from the Newcastle Joint Research Office; this can be done by completing a Project Initiation Form (PIF).
