Hello, my name is Kerry Carrick and I am Senior Medical Secretary & Team Administrator based with the community Palliative Care Service.
I have the responsibility of assisting Palliative Care Nurse Specialists and Palliative Care Consultants in managing and organising their time and efficiency.
My role includes organising staff training, arranging and minute taking at meetings, answering patient and professional telephone calls, and team diary organisation to allow colleagues to dedicate their time to providing the best possible care for our patients.
I joined the Palliative Care Service in 2009 as a part time Administrator. I progressed over time to Senior Medical Secretary & Team Administrator whilst successfully completing Business Administration qualifications provided for by the Trust.
Before joining the NHS, I worked for a large law firm in Newcastle which provided me with experience in diary management, customer service and IT skills which have assisted me within this role.
I now continue aspire to help towards making a difference to the quality of the service.
Although I am based separately to the other secretaries within the service, we work very well together to ensure the smooth running of all administrative aspects of the service.
I have experienced the difference administrative support staff can make to a team in proving patients with quality care, and I continue to enjoy being part of such a great service.
