Cavell Award for ‘Shining Star’ Community Nursery Nurse
Nursery nurse Micki Short has been awarded a ‘Star Award’ by the Cavell Nurses Trust in recognition of the outstanding commitment and dedication she displays whilst supporting families seeking asylum in Newcastle.
In particular she is known for doing all she can to meet the huge emotional needs of the parents and their children.

District Nurse awarded Queen’s Nursing Initiative (QNI) prize
District nurse Georgia Hibbert has received a Queens Nursing Institute (QNI) award for her outstanding performance whilst completing a Master’s Degree at Northumbria University.
Georgia was noted in particular for excelling during her studies and her supervisory tutors nominated her for the QNI’s much coveted Philip Goodeve Docker Memorial Prize.

Specialist Continence Team win national ‘Gold’ Award two years running
Newcastle’s Specialist Continence Team were named as both overall ‘Gold’ winners and ‘Silver’ winner for the British Journal of Nursing Continence Nurse of the Year Award.
Our Harm Free Nurse Specialists also won ‘Bronze’ for the Infection Prevention Nurse of the Year Award.

British Journal of Nursing Finalists – Infection Control Nurse of the Year
Specialist Nurses Amy Griffiths and Pasqua Fitzgibbon were shortlisted for their mobile education and quality improvement approaches to help keep colleagues on busy clinical areas up to date on infection prevention and control initiatives.
Amy and Pasqua came up with a proactive and adaptable approach to carrying out targeted education which were hugely successful with effective engagement.
