Mr Philip Yates is a Consultant ENT Surgeon with a special interest in otological conditions (specifically the middle ear and mastoid) at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital.
He undertook undergraduate training at the University of Manchester, graduating in 1991 then completed his basic surgical training in the North West region before moving to the North East to undertake higher surgical training in ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat).
During this period of training Mr Yates completed a fellowship in Otology at the University of California, San Francisco.
He was appointed as a consultant at the Freeman Hospital in 2002 and is one of three surgeons in the North East Cochlear Implant Programme as well as a member of the team managing children with hearing loss.
