Mr Nick Hayes is a Consultant General Surgeon with an interest in Oesophago Gastric Surgery and has been a member of the Royal Victoria Infirmary’s Northern Oesophago Gastric Cancer Unit since 1997.
Mr Hayes graduated in Medicine from the University of Newcastle and trained in surgery in the Northern Region and East Midlands.
Special interests
Mr Hayes established an interest in Oesophago Gastric Surgery and therapeutic endoscopy with Professor Mike Griffin in Newcastle, and during a Visiting Lectureship at the Chinese University of Hong Kong with Professor Sydney Chung.
Membership and other roles
Mr Hayes held elected office as council member of the Association of Upper GI Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland for over ten years including terms as Honorary Treasurer, and remains a trustee of the AUGIS Charity.
He is a current examiner for the Intercollegiate Specialty Examination in General Surgery.
