Mr Wyatt is a consultant Vascular Surgeon and Honorary Reader with a major interest in treating patients with complex thoracic and abdominal aortic disease, using both open and stent graft technologies. Having qualified from Newcastle University, he trained in surgery in Bristol, Plymouth, Exeter and London. He presents and publishes widely on all aspects of vascular disease and was the elected President of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland in 2015/16.
Mr Wyatt is currently Series Editor of the Journal ‘Surgery’, Chairman of the Vascular Surgical Training Committee to Health Education North East and sits on the Court of Examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He also examines for the intercollegiate Vascular FRCS, is the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh representative on the Vascular Board of the Joint Committee on Intercollegiate Examinations (JCIE) and is a member of the RCSE Quality Assurance Operational Group for inter/national training course accreditation.
His previous roles have been as Chairman of the Association of International Vascular Surgeons, Treasurer of the British Journal of Surgery Society and Vice Chairman to NHS England’s Vascular Clinical Commissioning Group. He has been awarded a Hunterian Professorship at the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCSE) and has spent five years on the General Surgical Specialist Advisory Committee.
Mr Wyatt has served as President of the North of England Surgical Society, Secretary and Editorial Secretary of the Society of the Society of Academic and Research Surgeons and Editorial Secretary of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland. He has edited several textbooks, including the recently published Oxford Textbook of the Fundamentals of Surgery.
