Mr James Talks is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Newcastle Eye Centre, Royal Victoria Infirmary.
Mr Talks specialises in medical retina including macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy and cataract surgery as well as general ophthalmology .
He trained in Birmingham, Oxford and at Moorfields and has been a consultant ophthalmologist in Newcastle since 2000 where he leads the medical retina service.
Newcastle was an early provider of PDT, covering the whole of the North East, and then ranibizumab for AMD, ahead of NICE, and is one of the largest providers in the Country.
Mr Talks has clinical research interests in macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and imaging. He is a member of Council for the Oxford Congress and regularly runs an imaging course at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists annual congress.
