Mr David Sainsbury is a Consultant Cleft and Plastic Surgeon at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary specialising in cleft lip and palate, facial deformity in children and adults, ear reconstruction, skin cancer and facial reanimation.
Mr Sainsbury trained in plastic surgery in Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Durham. He completed Advanced Training in Cleft Lip and Palate (Newcastle, Leeds, Nottingham, Edinburgh) and the Paediatric Plastic Surgery Fellowship (Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto).
Major specialist interests include cleft lip and palate, ear reconstruction and skin cancer in children and adults. He is also involved in helping patients with visible facial difference.
Mr Sainsbury is a founder member of the Cleft Trainee Collaborative which produces multicentre, cleft related research across the UK. He is an Honorary Tutor at the Wound Healing Research Unit, Cardiff University.
