Miss Victoria Lane (FRCS Paediatric Surgery) is a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at Newcastle’s Great North Children’s Hospital with a sub-specialist interest in colorectal surgery.
Miss Lane was appointed as a Consultant in 2020 having completed her paediatric surgical training in 2019, after rotating through Leeds and Sheffield Children’s Hospitals.
From 2014-2016, she completed a two-year Clinical Research Colorectal Fellowship at the Centre for Colorectal and Pelvic Reconstruction / Centre for Outcomes Research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, USA and developed a sub-specialist interest in cloacal reconstruction, anorectal malformations and Hirschsprung’s disease.
She works alongside Mr Jaffray in the surgical management of polyposis syndromes and inflammatory bowel disease to include laparoscopic Crohn’s resection and restorative ileoanal pouch surgery.

- Development of a patient reported experience and outcome measure in patients undergoing bowel management
- Standardised approach to the assessment and surgical management of children with anorectal malformations requiring revisional surgery
- Surgical learning and the use of 3D reconstruction in the diagnosis and management of complex cloacal malformations
- Gynecological outcomes in anorectal malformation
- Lead author of Case Studies Book: Pediatric Colorectal and Pelvic Surgery.
She is a Member of the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons.
