Dr Fiona Shaw is a Consultant Physician specialising in Older People’s Medicine, specialising in falls and syncope and older people’s rehabilitation.
Dr Shaw was appointed in 2002, having trained in Edinburgh, Newcastle and Birmingham and with a background research interest in Prevention of Falls in Older People with Cognitive Impairment and Dementia. Falls prevention has continues to be a special interest.
Dr Shaw has close working links with the HealthWORKS Staying Steady Community Exercise Programme (she Chairs the steering group), the Newcastle Care Homes Project led by GP Colleagues and the North East Ambulance Service Falls Referral Programme.
