Dr Yasmin DeAlwis is a Consultant in Paediatric Neurodisability at Newcastle’s Great North Children’s Hospital specialising in management of children with Cerebral Palsy, complex posture and movement difficulties, dysphagia and related visual impairments.
Dr De Alwis graduated from Sri Jayewardanepura faculty of medical sciences in Colombo and entered specialist paediatric training in the UK in 2010. She completed specialist training in paediatric Neurodisability in the Northern Deanery in 2014 in 2016.
Dr De Alwis is passionate about improving function and participation in disabled children in the region.
Her special interests are assessment and goal oriented management of movement and postural difficulties in disabled children, and she is also interested in long term health needs of the disabled children and transition.
