Dr Tony Branson is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at the Freeman Hospital’s Northern Centre for Cancer Care specialising in breast cancer.
Dr Branson’s medical training was at Trinity Cambridge and Charing Cross Hospital London. He trained in oncology at the Hammersmith Hospital before moving to the North East in 1985, being appointed consultant in 1988.
Dr Branson was the clinical director for cancer services in Newcastle between 2004 and 2010 during which time the service moved across the city to the new Northern Centre for Cancer Care at the Freeman. He has worked with the North of England Cancer Network since its inception and was chair of the network radiotherapy group from 2005 to 2011. In November 2012 Dr Branson became medical director of the cancer network.
Research
Dr Branson is actively involved in clinical research and is local Principal Investigator for a number of national clinical trials.
