Dr Stephen Boag is a Consultant Immunologist at the Royal Victoria Infirmary specialising in allergic disease, including immunotherapy, urticaria, primary and secondary immunodeficiency, immunodysregulatory disease and diagnostic immunopathology services.
Dr Boag graduated from Edinburgh University in 2005, before moving to North-East England in 2007 to continue his medical training. He completed a PhD in immunology in 2016, and Clinical and Laboratory Immunology training in 2020. He was appointed as a Consultant Immunologist in 2021.
He has expertise in diagnostic immunopathology, particularly flow cytometry in diagnosis of immunological disease. He also has keen interests in teaching and research and has published papers in several high impact medical and immunology journals.

Research
Dr Boag completed a PhD in 2016 investigating immunological aspects of cardiovascular disease, with first author publications including in the Journal of Clinical Investigation. He has contributed to several studies and clinical trials in clinical immunology.
