Dr Sophie Weatherhead is a consultant dermatologist at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary and her particular interests are in phototherapy, cutaneous T cell lymphoma and inflammatory conditions such as psoriasis. She has previously completed a PhD in translational medicine investigating how UVB works to clear psoriasis. She is actively involved in clinical and translational research in her speciality areas, with projects based locally, nationally and internationally.
Dr Weatherhead is the lead for the supraregional cutaneous T cell lymphoma team, and is actively developing the service offered to patients. She is the local lead for the photodermatology service and runs the regional photodiagnositc service. She is currently the secretary for the British Photodermatology Group, and is the regional representative for the British Association of Dermatologists.
