Dr Simon Leslie Hill is a Consultant Physician in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics based primarily at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) and Regional Drugs and Therapeutics Centre.
Clinical Roles
He provides inpatient care for people admitted to RVI ward 44 under general medicine and is a part of the acute medicine team caring for people admitted under Acute Medicine on the Assessment Suite at the RVI. He is one of the 3 specialists in Clinical Toxicology who looks after people admitted to the trust with poisoning. He also leads for the Specialist Hypertension Clinic that occurs every Wednesday at the RVI.
Education Roles
He is the Deputy Director of Medical Education for the Trust with a focus on undergraduate medicine, and Undergraduate lead within the Trust for Newcastle University Medical School. The joint Trust/University role aims to deliver the highest quality medical education for medical students who undertake clinical placements, classroom teaching and assessments within Newcastle Hospitals. He is also the Training Programme Director for Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics for NHSE NE and the JRCPTB Specialty Advisory Committee Curriculum and Assessment Lead for Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics.
Research Roles
Dr Simon Leslie Hill is the Co-Director of the NIHR Newcastle Clinical Research Facility, based on the RVI site, that delivers early phase, including first in human, research across a wide range of adult and paediatric conditions. The unit is highly specialised and staff are highly trained in this cutting edge work. He is the lead for study risk assessment, workforce development and on our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion activities.
