Dr Sarah Hearnshaw is a consultant gastroenterologist at the Newcastle Hospitals with a particular interest in acute upper GI bleeding and associated blood transfusions as well as inflammatory bowel disease and Coeliac disease.
Dr Hearnshaw underwent her undergraduate and postgraduate training in Newcastle. She then spent two years of clinical research in Oxford with NHS Blood and Transplant running the UK audit of acute upper GI bleeding and specifically looking at the use of blood in these patients.
She was appointed as Consultant Gastroenterologist in Newcastle in 2012 and remains active in clinical research.
