Dr Rachel Agbeko is a Consultant Paediatric Intensivist at Newcastle’s Great North Children’s Hospital where she specialises in sepsis and traumatic brain injury.
Dr Agbeko received her training in Paediatrics and Intensive Care in The Netherlands (Sophia’s Children’s Hospital Rotterdam, St Radboud Hospital Nijmegen), the UK (Great Ormond Street Hospital) and Canada (The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto).
She holds a postgraduate Certificate of Patient Safety and Quality Improvement from the University of Toronto.
Research
After her PhD study at the Institute of Child Health, UCL, London she remains committed to translational research.
She leads the GNCH PICU Research Group, is PI on several national and international studies and is a founding member of the European paediatric critical care in bone marrow transplant interest group.
She is also the quality assurance lead for Children’s Services.
