Dr Michael McKean is a Consultant Respiratory Paediatrician specialising in asthma, long-term ventilation, respiratory sleep disorders, complex airway disorders as well as general disorders and Clinical Director for the Great North Children’s Hospital.
Dr McKean works with colleagues to cover inpatient work at the Great North Children’s Hospital and also any respiratory issues for children based at the cardiothoracic unit at the Freeman Hospital. The latter includes supporting the children’s lung transplant programme.
Dr McKean is an accredited supervisor and has supervised over 10 trainees who are now successful respiratory paediatricians and many paediatrics who have a significant interest in respiratory medicine.
