Dr Katy Hester is a Respiratory consultant at The Freeman Hospital with a specialist interest in bronchiectasis. She holds weekly bronchiectasis, COPD and general respiratory clinics.
I graduated from Newcastle University in 2001 and completed training in both the North East and South West of England. I joined the Freeman Hospital as a consultant in 2020.
I have a specialist interest in bronchiectasis and hold a weekly joint multidisciplinary bronchiectasis clinic at the Freeman Hospital. I also hold weekly general respiratory and COPD clinics. I have conducted research (MClinRes and PhD) into the educational needs of patients with bronchiectasis and developed an educational resource for patients and carers www.bronchiectasis.me. I have worked with the British Lung Foundation in developing their patient resources on bronchiectasis and have a particular interest in qualitative and mixed methods research.
I am lead for less than full time training on the Northern Respiratory Specialty Training Committee and tutor for Flexible Training.
