Dr Kate Talks is a Consultant Haematologist specialising in haemostasis and thrombosis.
Dr Talks graduated from London University in 1989 and undertook specialist training in Haematology in Oxford 1992-2000, including a period of research leading to an MD. She then completed training in Newcastle in 2003 and was appointed as a Consultant Haematologist.
Dr Talks is Co-Director of the Newcastle Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre and Chair of the Newcastle Hospitals’s VTE committee. A member of the UKHCDO Inhibitor working party Dr Talks is also the Principal investigator for a number of clinical trials in bleeding disorders, ITP and thrombosis.
Training
She is involved in the specialist training of doctors in Haematology, has been the National lead for recruitment for the JRCPTB since 2012 and Vice Chair of the National SAC in Haematology since 2015.
