Dr Joe Guadagno is a Consultant Neurologist and Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the RVI’s Neurosciences Centre where he specialises in multiple sclerosis and white matter disease.
Following undergraduate medical training at Glasgow University, including a BSc (Hons) in Neuroscience, Dr Guadagno undertook Neurology training in Royal Perth Hospital, Australia. He then returned to the UK to obtain a PhD from Cambridge University, looking into brain metabolism and blood flow changes in ischaemia using novel MRI and PET imaging techniques.
Dr Guadagno completed clinical Neurology training in Newcastle then obtained a Multiple Sclerosis Fellowship at the VU Medical centre Amsterdam under Professors Chris Polman and Fred Barkof.
He became a Consultant Neurologist and Honorary Clinical Lecturer with a special interest in M.S. at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle in December 2009 where he is involved in numerous MS trials and develops his own research interests in MS.
