Dr Ian Logan is a Consultant Nephrologist in Freeman Hospital, Newcastle and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead.
Dr Logan completed clinical specialty training in Newcastle Hospitals, alongside scientific research into chronic kidney disease in Newcastle University. During this time he was awarded several research grants, a clinical lectureship and a prestigious ERA fellowship in which he undertook research in RWTH, Aachen under professors Rafael Kramann and Jurgen Floege.
Roles and responsibilities
Dr Logan is currently the service lead in renal procedures, including dialysis catheter and renal biopsy procedures. He is also the lead for the renal outreach service in Gateshead that offers care to a broad range of patients with kidney conditions.
Additionally, Dr Logan undertakes care of in-centre haemodialysis patients and kidney transplant recipients.
Dr Logan is committed to providing outstanding care through improvements in patient communication, such as writing clinic letters directly to patients.
