Dr Ethan Sen is a consultant in paediatric rheumatology at the Great North Children’s Hospital.
After undergraduate study at the University of Oxford, Dr Sen trained in general paediatrics in the Severn Deanery and Christchurch, New Zealand. His paediatric rheumatology training was here in Newcastle, at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath. Dr Sen joined the Great North Children’s Hospital as a consultant in May 2018.
He was awarded a Barbara Ansell Fellowship in Paediatric Rheumatology to undertake research focusing on lupus nephritis and subsequently an NIHR Rare Diseases Translational Research Collaboration Clinical Research Fellowship, completing a PhD at the University of Bristol. Dr Sen was Trainee Representative and am now a Clinical Member of the UK Paediatric Rheumatology Clinical Studies Group. He chairs the JIA Topic Specific Group and maintain active involvement in research. He is also a member of the British Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology and the Paediatric Rheumatology European Society. Dr Sen is an Associate Clinical Lecturer at Newcastle University and Consultant Lead for Child Health Undergraduate Education at GNCH. He particularly enjoys his ongoing role in undergraduate and postgraduate medical training.
