Dr Elizabeth Murphy is the Clinical Director of NewcastleOHS – part of the Newcastle upon Tyne NHS Hospitals Foundation Trust.
Having graduated from Newcastle University Medical School , Dr Murphy completed medical and respiratory rotations before combining interests and progressing her training in Occupational Medicine.
During her first Consultant Occupational Physician post in NHS Grampian (2000- 2013) Dr Murphy developed an interest and expertise in supporting individuals and organisations with complex case management in relation to performance, health and capability.
She has worked to establish a credible high quality practice which supports the NHS to deliver quality healthcare with patient safety at the core. Dr Murphy a past member of the Advisory Group on Hepatitis (DoH) and the UKAP who advise on blood borne viruses and implications in health care. As a past member of the GMC – the medical practitioner’s tribunal service – Dr Murphy has extensive experience in fitness to practice and interim orders tribunals.
Dr Murphy joined the Newcastle Hospitals in 2013 and has established NewcastleOHS as an integral part of the Newcastle upon Tyne NHS Foundations Trust where the service delivers occupational health, physiotherapy, counselling and clinical psychology services to the NHS and other partners.
She is currently the regional training programme director for occupational medicine responsible for leading and co-ordinating the training of specialty trainees within the specialty training programme.
