Dr Pathan completed his Rheumatology training in Edinburgh and a research fellowship at Imperial College, London.
He worked as a Consultant Rheumatologist at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for 5 years before taking up an axial Spondyloarthritis fellowship at the Toronto Western Hospital.
He joined Newcastle Hospitals as Consultant Rheumatologist on his return to the UK in August 2020 where he is part of the team that runs the Spondyloarthritis clinic.
He is also currently research lead for the Rheumatology Department.
